Mariah Carey shared her own horrible experience when she graced The Ellen DeGeneres Show in November 2008. The 50-year-old star revealed she felt pressured by its host, Ellen DeGeneres, when she handed her a glass of champagne.

At the time, Carey just had a miscarriage and DeGeneres wanted her to announce her pregnancy. After losing the baby, the Songbird Supreme had no plans to discuss about it, making her talk with the 62-year-old host "extremely uncomfortable."

Twelve years after the experience, the iconic singer-songwriter told Vulture she still had a hard time grappling with the aftermath. At the time, she was not ready to tell anyone about her miscarriage, let alone announcing it on national TV.

Carey cleared she did not want to throw anyone who was already thrown under the bus, knowing the huge controversy DeGeneres and her show had been experiencing today. She just wanted to reveal that she did not "enjoy" the moment she was on the show.

She understood that there was an "empathy" that could be played out on those moments, but left puzzled of what she had to do then. DeGeneres tried to open up the pregnancy rumors at the time, but Carey, who was newly-married to then-husband Nick Cannon, told the comedian "do not discuss that."

However, DeGeneres was persistent, grabbed a bottle of champagne and two flutes, and gave Carey. To excuse herself from drinking, the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" hitmaker told Portia de Rossi's partner that alcohol was "fattening."

She went on to say she could not believe DeGeneres could do that to her, calling it "peer pressure." She even asked the audience if they could see what DeGeneres was doing.

The Finding Nemo star did not mind Carey's complaints, holding up her glass for a toast. The former American Idol judge just accepted the toast, dedicated it for both of their futures and pretended to take a sip, saying it was too early for her, and she was only drinking after 3 p.m.

According to the Independent, Carey's 2008 interview with DeGeneres re-emerged and went viral on social media since last month amid the ongoing internal investigation into the show. WarnerMedia launched the inquiry to look into the alleged "sexual misconduct, racism, and bullying" happening on Ellen's set.

Anyhow, DeGeneres was not part of the allegations, although there were complaints about her alleged mean behavior. Three top producers were ousted since the investigation started, while employees received "extended holiday and additional time off."
