When Calls the Heart season 8 is, currently, in production and it is expected to premiere sometime next year. The upcoming installment could see the return of Faith (Andrea Brooks), Elizabeth's (Erin Krakow) complicated love triangle, and the arrival of a new family in Hope Valley.
When Calls the Heart season 8 will introduce the Canfield family. Entertainment Tonight released some photos featuring the family-of-four spending time with some of the characters. Viv Leacock played the role of Joseph Canfield, the patriarch of the family.
The storyline of Joseph revolves around trying to buy the gas station in Hope Valley. He is married to his wife, Minnie Canfield, portrayed by Natasha Burnett. She is a very protective mother and will do everything that she can just to protect her two kids.
Interestingly, Joseph and Minnie's children are played by Leacock's kids in real life. Vienna Leacock played the role of Angela Canfield, a 12-year-old girl who's visually impaired and gifted in playing the piano. She's homeschooled for some time but started attending Elizabeth's class.
However, Minnie is very protective of her daughter. She is not sure whether or not she could trust Elizabeth with Angela's education. Cooper Canfield is the youngest family member and played by Elias Leacock. He is nine years old and a wonderful addition to the kids at the school.
Elizabeth is also his teacher, and it looks like Cooper goes on some sort of adventure with her and Jesse (Aren Buchholz). It's exciting to see what these new characters could bring in When Calls the Heart season 8. But, it remains to be seen whether or not the Canfields stay in Hope Valley for a long time.
Meanwhile, the series has started production back in July amid the global health crisis. At the time, Krakow said she's delighted they're heading back to work. She shared that they're following CDC's recommended precautionary measures, such as practicing social distancing and wearing masks.
In addition, the actress has been sharing some behind the scenes photos of When Calls the Heart season 8. Previously, she shared a photo of herself with the "little rockstars" of Hope Valley. It seems like the series hasn't encountered any setbacks, based on some recent teases.
The official release date of When Calls the Heart season 8 remains unknown as of this writing. But, in the video released by Hallmark Channel to announce the renewal of the eighth installment, Krakow confirmed they're coming back in 2021.
