Grey's Anatomy season 17 has no official release date at the moment since filming hasn't started yet. But, it looks like the medical drama series is eyeing for a particular date to start everything up. Cast and crew are, seemingly, closer to getting back to work.

According to a recent report from TVLineGrey's Anatomy season 17 has started the virtual table read on Thursday, Sept. 3. The production, on the other hand, is set to begin on Monday, Sept. 7. Yet, this is a tentative plan and some things could change depending on the situation.

The virtual table read is a reminder that everyone is trying to be careful and they minimize contact between people as much as possible. This is one of the many precautions that needed to be followed to ensure their safety amid the current global health crisis.

If the production date will push through, the cast and crew need to comply with certain health guidelines and protocols. For instance, some scenes might be limited and the number of larger groups might be reduced. Also, everyone is required to wear PPE given that this is a medical drama.

A lot of things happened over the past few months and Grey's Anatomy season 17 could take on some of these timely topics -- particularly the pandemic. In fact, the series has been planning to incorporate the real-life health crisis into the upcoming installment.

In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Krista Vernoff discussed how this storyline will be included in the new season. She said that a lot of doctors don't spend time with their families because of the global health crisis, something that might be shown in the series' lens.

Also, Vernoff confirmed during the Television Academy panel that they will address the real-life health crisis. The showrunner revealed that they're talking to real doctors and asked about their experiences amid the pandemic. They want to understand everything to make the stories authentic.

But, apart from the pandemic-related stories, Grey's Anatomy season 17 will, also, feature the remaining stories that weren't filmed in season 16. There's a rumor that the finale of the previous installment will feature a major death, but that wasn't filmed due to the production shutdown.

Moreover, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and DeLuca's (Giacomo Gianniotti) relationship will be further explored in the new season. They've been through a lot already, but it looks like they'll be facing more challenges moving forward.

Grey's Anatomy season 17 has no official release date, but it is expected to premiere in November.
