Melania Trump wore her bombshell jacket, which features the "I really don't care, do u?" print, more than two years ago. She visited migrant children at the U.S.-Mexico border, who got separated from their families following Trump's "crackdown" on illegal immigration at the time.

The jacket, particularly the print, has since sparked criticisms among the public toward the First Lady. Despite all the objections, Melania, alongside the East Wing, has remained silent about the issue.

They never explained the reason behind her choice of fashion piece for that day. But, a "former friend" of hers recently revealed the truth behind the controversy, according to the Daily Express.

Speaking to CNN's New Day, Stephanie Wilson Wolkoff shared that she could not believe that Melania Trump wore the controversial jacket. She even thought that someone "digitally altered" the photos of the First Lady.

Following the trip, she said that she spoke to her former friend about it and told her that she "would have jumped" on her. To her surprise, though, Melania stated that "nobody" could and would do it, adding that she "makes her own decisions."

Wolkoff, later on, concluded that Donald Trump's wife wore the piece to get the "media's attention." She noted that Melania wanted everyone to know about her trip to the border.

A similar report from Business Insider reveals that Stephanie Wilson Wolkoff further let the public in on Melania Trump's alleged thoughts about the jacket. She told the interviewer, CNN's Alisyn Camerota, that the First Lady did not likely realize that she would get "negative attention," especially from the media.

When asked to elaborate on her conclusions, the White House's former aide said that Melania was "trying" to send a message that she did not care what politicians thought about her trip to the border. She, also, argued that the East Wing should have explained this before the public instead of claiming that the jacket had no other meanings.

Stephanie Wilson Wolkoff sat down for the interview to promote her book. She authored the recently released tell-all material, Melania and Me, that reveals the details of her now-defunct close friendship with Melania Trump.

Previous reports said that the book, which dropped on September 1, even contains shocking details about the First Lady's alleged feud and tension with Donald Trump's eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump. Some even emphasized that it has become the central subject of the book.
