The Crown season 4 has an upcoming scene that will surely become the subject of watercooler conversations. The show re-enacted royal wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981 and it's no doubt one of the highly anticipated episodes.

Emma Corrin, who plays Princess Diana in The Crown season 4, revealed in an interview with British Vogue that the production team had Princess Diana's iconic wedding gown replicated to her size and frame. They got the patterns of the original dress from the actual designers, David and Elizabeth Emanuel.

The actress shared that when she walked out to do her scene in the wedding dress, everyone on the set "went completely silent." They filmed the wedding scene at the Lancaster House.

Corrin said that 10 people helped her put on the massive gown, which had a 25-foot train. She said that of all the dresses she had to wear in the show, the impact of the wedding dress was showed her exactly how Princess Diana's presence affected the public.

The Princess of Wales' wedding dress cost about $120,000 and was made of ivory silk taffeta. It had 10,00 hand-sewn pearls and elaborate embroidery to match the veil that had 18-carat gold horseshoe charms.

The designers said in an interview with Woman's Own in 2016 that Princess Diana made an appointment to discuss her wedding dress, just like any bride. She had previously asked the Emanuels to make three or four gowns for her for formal events.

Elizabeth said that it actually didn't take long to design the dress. Creating the garment, however, took them months and Princess Diana had to do several refitting since she was losing weight during her engagement.

Following her death, the iconic gown went on display at the Althorp House, Princess Diana's family home, since it belonged to the Spencers upon her death. However, since 2014, it's now in possession of Prince William and Harry's private collections.

Meanwhile, Princess Diana's own hairstylist, Sam McKnight, also worked on The Crown season 4. He was brought in to recreate the royal's hairstyle for Corrin's big wedding scene.

McKnight said that it felt weird in the beginning but it made him recall the first time she met the princess for a cover shoot in 1990. The hairstylist said they all "just fell in love with her."

Meanwhile, Netflix is set to premiere The Crown season 4 on Nov. 15. The series also stars Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, Josh O'Connor and Helena Bonham Carter.
