Chicago Med season 6 hasn't started filming at the moment. The series is one of the shows that has been impacted by the global health crisis. But, it seems like the cast and crew are preparing to go back to work and production could begin soon.

According to a recent report from DeadlineChicago Med season 6 is set to kick off filming on Tuesday, Sept. 22. If the schedule will push through and there'll be no setbacks along the way, we could expect new episodes dropping later this year.

Details about the new season remain scarce right now. But, following the season 5 finale, executive producers Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider told CarterMatt that they're going to honor the real-life responders in the series. The series could take on some pandemic-related stories moving forward.

The show is all about how doctors and nurses care so much for their patients and how they affect each other's lives. Both Frolov and Schneider made it clear they wanted to honor real-life doctors and nurses who are sacrificing so much for the sake of others. This is something that the new season will tackle.

In Chicago Med season 6, we could see Dr. Will Hastead (Nick Gehlfuss) and the rest of the team doing everything they can to save the lives of people during the global health crisis. It could put a strain on all of them, given that a lot of health workers have died since the pandemic started.

Yet, amidst all the pain and stress, it would be nice to see the series delivering light stories for other characters. There are still a lot of things that needed to be addressed. The previous season wasn't able to air the original finale as production was forced to shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Chicago Med season 6 could pick up the remaining stories left in season 5. For instance, it was revealed that Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) lost a child at an early age. The tragedy caused him to change, leading to his disinterest in connecting.

In addition, the only person who knows about this is Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey Devitto). It remains to be seen whether or not anyone else will find this story out. For now, it looks like the two have a deeper bond, which could lead to something more moving forward.

Chicago Med season 6 is slated to premiere in November on NBC.
