Rumors have it there will be a Fantastic Beasts spinoff TV series about Grindelwald in development on HBO Max. If ever this project will push through, it may star none other than the movie version's Grindelwald himself, Johnny Depp.

Knight Edge Media founder Caleb Williams hinted at the possibility of having a TV series about Grindelwald in a Twitter post. He shared a GIF of the dark wizard inside the Protego Diabolica, a protective ring of fire, and used the hashtags #Grindelwald and #HBOMax.

With the inclusion of HBO's streaming service, fans couldn't help but think that the post meant there would be a Fantastic Beasts TV spinoff coming.

According to We Got This Covered, Warner Bros. may milk the movie series by doing "a slate of TV shows" set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It is seen to help boost HBO Max's lineup of original content, and it may include the Grindelwald TV series.

Surely, Harry Potter TV adaptations will excite the fans. However, Grindelwald only has a finite arc. Compared to Dumbledore, who has a lot of possible storylines to play out, he may not be the right choice

It also remains to be seen if Depp can still do a TV series 30 years after 21 Jump Street, which dominated the small screen in the 1980s. Anyhow, multiple reports reveal he is more than willing to have a high-paying job.

Meanwhile, after the COVID-19 lockdown put the Fantastic Beasts 3's production to the stop, the film has now continued filming. Cinemablend reported new safety protocols were put in place, creating a new normal on the set after a two-week process.

Despite the new setup, lead star Eddie Redmayne revealed everyone is doing their best to stay at the top of their game. The third movie installment only got the green light last year after The Crimes of Grindelwald received the lowest opening compared to other Harry Potter movies.

It also got a poor overall review from critics and fans. However, Warner Bros. seemed to be keen to continue the movie series.

The filmmakers are hoping to make Fantastic Beasts 3 bigger and better to make up for the Crimes of Grindelwald's poor reception. J.K. Rowling is now re-working on the film's script.

Fantastic Beasts 3 is set to be out on Nov. 12, 2021, with Redmayne and Depp on the lead. Alternatively, it remains to be seen if the Grindelwald spinoff TV series will be in development.
