Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston recently blessed fans with a virtual reunion for a live table read of Fast Times at Ridgemont High. As a lot of people celebrated the event, what really happened behind the scenes?
Dane Cook, the event's host, revealed the reunion details in a talk with Maria Menounos on her podcast, Better Together with Maria Menounos. The 48-year-old comedian knew that, when Pitt's team talked to him, he was already in for the show, People noted.
Despite being an A-list star, the 56-year-old actor had no hesitation, no rules, and didn't demand anything. The Good Luck Chuck star wanted everyone to know there was nothing that Pitt and Aniston were not allowed to do.
They didn't show any drama and "both locked in" instead. What people saw was what the people behind the camera exactly hoped to deliver. It was a "nice engagement" between the two most prominent and talented stars in Hollywood.
Cook continued Aniston was the first one to join the table read before Pitt. When he texted the Friends star to ask if she would like to join the virtual event, she was "delightful, game, and excited."
When Pitt joined in, Cook knew the table read would push through. Pitt and Aniston played the roles of Brad Hamilton and Linda Barrett in the virtual reading.
It was their first onscreen appearance together since their divorce in 2005. At one scene, the two became flirty of each other when Brad had a sexual fantasy about Linda.
Hence, when Linda called Brad "cute and sexy" their co-stars couldn't help but laugh. Other stars that were part of the live table read was Ray Liotta, John Legend, Henry Golding, Shia LaBeouf, Matthew McConaughey, Julia Roberts, Sean Penn, Jimmy Kimmel, and Morgan Freeman.
It was not the first time that Pitt and Aniston had a reunion. At the beginning of the year, the internet broke when they were seen together at the backstage of Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Pitt was even caught holding Aniston's hand when she was about to walk away. However, despite being nominated for an Emmy award this year, Elle noted they didn't have another reunion.
The two were nominated in different categories. Aniston got a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series for her role in The Morning Show.
In contrast, Pitt got a nod for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy for his appearance on Saturday Night Live as Dr. Anthony Fauci. As Pitt didn't win the category, he didn't have a chance to reunite with Aniston once again.
