Alec Baldwin virtually graced The Ellen DeGeneres Show and had some words of support for Ellen DeGeneres. Some former and current employees of the show blasted the host's public apology. But, the 62-year-old actor advised her to just continue her journey.
Amid the allegations of a toxic workplace environment on Ellen, Baldwin showed his support to DeGeneres. Before he talked about his new-born son, he said he has followed the 62-year-old TV personality's career, from the time she was only starting as a stand-up comedian to becoming a solo performer.
He has watched all the films she'd done and her success on TV, calling her one of the "funniest and most talented women." He, too, praised her for being one of the most talented people in the entertainment scene, Entertainment Weekly noted.
Baldwin, then, assured DeGeneres everyone had "some patches of white water." But, she should keep going and never stop doing what she's doing.
Portia de Rossi's wife thanked the 30 Rock star, saying what he said meant so much to her and sincerely appreciated it. She, then, acknowledged there had been some rapids in her life today, but she's "maneuvering the raft."
On Ellen's return for its season 18 premiere, DeGeneres addressed the controversy the show had faced. She asked her virtual audience about their summer and said hers was "great and terrific."
She went on to say she learned things that happened on the set that should have never taken place and she took that "very seriously." She, then, said sorry to the people affected, taking full responsibility for what happened at her show.
DeGeneres then assured everyone they had made all the necessary changes and they were starting a new chapter. However, her statement didn't sit well with some of the show's current and former employees.
One told BuzzFeed that, when the Finding Nemo star revealed her summer was great, he supposed that it meant to be funny. He found it amusing that she had a rough summer after everyone called out Ellen's toxic work environment, questioning her feeling of suffering.
Another one said no one should use the title "be a kind lady" after DeGeneres swore it's tricky to be known by it. A former employee added the comedian only turned their traumas into a joke and managed to make the issue about her. She was also criticized for making "inappropriate jokes" while delivering her apology.
