MacGyver season 5 hasn't started production at the moment. There are a lot of questions as to when filming could officially kick-off. It looks like cast members don't know when they could go back working, as well. The good news is that work is being done despite the lack of filming start date.

In his latest Instagram post, Justin Hires, who plays Bozer, made it clear that he does not have any idea when MacGyver season 5 could go into production. Even though there's no official start date, the actor teased that they're getting close and the new season is "coming soon."

There is no real reason to rush the upcoming installment given that there are episodes banked from the original season 4 episodes order. The remaining stories left there will be incorporated in the new season before opening a new chapter.

Originally, the fourth installment was commissioned for 19 episodes. However, production was forced to shut down earlier this year due to the current global health crisis. There are still six episodes left, and these will be included in the new season.

In fact, it seems like the premiere episode of MacGyver season 5 is ready. Hires shared the photo of episode 1, with the title "Telescope + S-218 + Amplifier + Frenemies + Fog." The fifth installment continues with the series' tradition containing many ingredients in the title.

The episode is written by Jim Adler and Stephanie Hicks. The director, however, is yet to be announced. Right now, this is the only specific for the new season. Since filming hasn't started, it's hard to speculate what else is coming in the story.

Meanwhile, MacGyver season 5 will still follow the usual timeslot it had through most of the series' run. Hence, the show continues airing every Friday at 8 p.m. EST. Nothing has changed and the schedule will be followed throughout the run of the new season.

In another report, the upcoming installment will have a new showrunner, Monica Macer. She'll be working with other writers to craft new episodes for the series. The show's previous showrunner is Peter M. Lenkov, who was, reportedly, dismissed following an internal investigation.

MacGyver season 5 is slated to arrive at some point in 2021 on CBS. In addition to Hires, the series stars Lucas Till as the titular Angus MacGyver, along with Levy Tran as Desi Nguyen, Tristin Mays as Riley Davis, Henry Ian Cusick as Russell Taylor, and Meredith Eaton as Matty Webber.
