There's still a question surrounding the official release date of MacGyver season 5. However, the good news is that some episodes have already been shot for the latest installment. There is a possibility that the Lucas Till-led will not be delayed as much as other shows out there.

But, the premiere of MacGyver season 5 still depends on the scheduling of CBS. Perhaps, the network may choose to hold off its release date until the series can be lined up with Magnum P.I. and Blue Bloods. Yet, some are still hoping it could arrive earlier than expected.

If there's no global health crisis, CarterMatt noted we could anticipate the fifth installment on Friday, Sept. 25. However, due to the current state of the world, this specific release date schedule may not be followed. Everything could change depending on the situation.

Cast and crew could resume working when the situation goes back to normal or, at least, gets a little bit better. There's still no indication when filming could start, so fans could likely expect the arrival of the new season at some point in 2021.

When the new season arrives on CBS, the series will still follow the usual timeslot it had for most of its run. Hence, we'll see the fifth installment every Friday at 8 p.m. EST. Nothing will change here and it will be followed throughout the run of the new season.

The fourth installment was originally commissioned for 19 episodes, but production was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with episode 13 served as the season finale. There are still six episodes left, and it looks like the stories here might be incorporated in MacGyver season 5.

Meanwhile, it was previously revealed that the showrunner of MacGyver and Magnum P.I., Peter M. Lenkov, was axed at CBS. In a statement, CBS TV Studios confirmed they fired him and terminated their overall deal with him. His dismissal comes after an internal investigation.

The new showrunner of MacGyver season 5 is Monica Macer and she's, now, working with other writers to craft new episodes for the series. It's exciting to see what she could bring to the table and how the series evolves with the arrival of the new showrunner.

As for who's coming back in MacGyver season 5, Lucas Till will reprise his titular character Angus MacGyver, along with Justin Hires as Wilt Bozer, Tristin Mays as Riley Davis, Levy Tran as Desi Nguyen, Meredith Eaton as Matty Webber, and Henry Ian Cusick as Russell Taylor.
