Batwoman season 2 is currently in production in Vancouver. Javicia Leslie is the new lead of the series and she'll be playing the role of Ryan Wilder. But, apart from her arrival, the upcoming installment will be introducing some new faces, as well.

In a new report from Deadline, it was confirmed that Jessica Jones actress Leah Gibson and Devious Maids actor Nathan Owens will have a recurring role in Batwoman season 2. It's interesting to see how their arrival could further shake up the story moving forward.

Gibson will be playing the role of Tatiana, who's also known as "The Whisper." The character is a skilled assassin and described as unflappable and cold as ice in the face of danger. She is one of the most important henchwomen of Safiya (Shivaani Ghai) and harbors feelings for her powerful boss.

Owens, on the other hand, plays the role of Ocean, an interesting name that could mean something more. He is a zen Gardner, thinker, and has a complicated past. Also, the character is a loyal soldier and fighter, but he moved to Gotham to have a new beginning.

These two recurring characters could have a significant role in Ryan Wilder's life. Batwoman season 2 centers around the sudden disappearance of Kate Kane (Ruby Rose). Her unknown whereabouts will be one of the biggest mysteries of the upcoming installment.

Rose played the role of the titular character for just one season. Shortly after the season 1 finale, the actress announced she won't be coming back to reprise the role. Now, Leslie's Ryan Wilder will be at the forefront of the second installment.

Only a few details were known about this new character. But, she is completely different from Kate Kane. Ryan Wilder spent most of her years as a drug-runner. She's been masking her pain through her bad habits. She's the most dangerous type of fighter since she can kill someone with bare hands.

Meanwhile, Ryan Wilder's costume in Batwoman season 2 might be different from what we've seen with Kate Kane's. Per TVLine, showrunner Caroline Dries made it clear that the former's Batsuit will undergo some sort of evolution, which will be seen in the early run of the latest installment.

It's interesting to see what the new costume would look like. The changes make sense, as well, since it's a way to differentiate Ryan Wilder and Kate Kane as superheroes. They have different personalities, and the evolution of the costume signals they have their own way of fighting.

Batwoman season 2 is expected to premiere in January 2021 on The CW.
