Android and iOS users are in for a treat as the new Google Meet introduces its noise cancellation feature and added attendance reports for schools.
Google Meet, after its roll out to desktops last June, now features the ability to filter out noisy and disruptive sounds, made possible by the noise cancellation feature on devices running iOS and Android. The video conferencing service has also added the attendance reports feature for schools and educators.
Google has announced that aside from adding the attendance reports for schools, Google Meet can filter out disruptive background noises, which makes calling from an iOS and Android device possible in different types of environments. Some of the most common sounds and noises that Google Meet filters out are "doors opening and closing, keyboard typing, and construction outside your window." The noise cancellation feature of Google Meet uses the "cloud-based Artificial Intelligence" of Google to isolate and eliminate anything that is not your voice.
To enable Google Meet's noise cancellation feature on iOS and Android devices, tap the "More" overflow menu and then choose "Settings," and then click "Noise Cancellation." The noise cancellation feature on Google Meet is off by default since Google recommends you disable it if "non-speech is an important part of your call, like playing musical instruments." As regards the attendance reports for schools and educators, you can opt for the G Suite Enterprise for Education customers.

The noise cancellation feature in Google Meet is available for G Suite Enterprise and is designed for use on iOS and Android devices. It is also available in the G Suite Enterprise for Education customers, where educators can also use its attendance reports feature for online learning purposes.
However, the noise cancellation feature in iOS and Android, as well as the attendance reports feature are not available in Google Meet's G Suite Basic, G Suite Business, G Suite for Education, and G Suite for Non-Profits. In addition, Google has also put in place some regional restrictions in countries like South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and its surrounding locales.
According to Google, the noise cancellation feature of Google Meet for iOS and Android is rolling out today and is set to be fully available in the next few days. Meanwhile, the attendance reports for schools and educators are already available on G Suite Enterprise for education and organizers can now generate a report once the meeting ends. You can send the report over email and it is also available for Google Meet conversations consisting of five to 250 participants. The attendance reports for schools and educators contains the names of participants, their email or obfuscated phone number, the time they joined or exited, and duration.
