Rumors have it that My Hero Academia Season 5 is about to hit the small screens early next year. But, as its studio, Viz Media, and creator, Kōhei Horikoshi, have yet to confirm the news, is there any truth about it?
The anime series' official Twitter account announced the show's renewal in April. The Weekly Shōnen Jump's 18th issue also revealed the news then.
The show's Season 4 finale teased the coming of My Hero Academia Season 5, although it didn't reveal its release date. The anime's renewal didn't come as a surprise to many.
With its popularity and source material, it's only fitting that there will be a new season coming. It received a 90% rating from Rotten Tomatoes, 8.19 from MyAnimeList, and 8.5/10 from IMDb, per HITC.
Now, rumors recently emerged Izuku Midoriya and the rest of the team would return to the small screen in spring 2021. The claims came from the so-called "well-known leakers."
To add fuel to the fire, the official Weekly Shōnen Jump Twitter page also joined the trend. It seemed to confirm in a tweet that My Hero Academia Season 5 would be indeed out in the said date next year.
Fans should only take this assumption with a grain of salt as nothing is officially confirmed yet. But, it seems like a spring 2021 release date is only befitting.
It is the same schedule fans expect to see the anime on air. They have been predicting its release since Season 4 ended.
However, Weekly Shōnen Jump's announcement doesn't come with a particular month of release. But, many assume it will be in April, along with other releases in the spring.
There are also rumors My Hero Academia Season 5 will be split-cour. So, its second half may be out in July if the April release date will push through.
So, what will happen in the new season? Izuku will surely have a new mission after the epic Season 4 finale, Comicbook noted. Also, fans want to see what will happen next to the League of Villains and the mysterious dream the fan-favorite protagonist had.
Gamespot also reported My Hero Academia Season 5 might follow the manga series's story, picking up the Joint Training arc. This storyline will lead to the events of the 2019 movie My Hero Academia: Horse Rising, where Midoriya, Bakugo, and the rest of Class 1-A face Nine, a powerful man who has nine different superpowered Quirks. It may also delve into the Meta Liberation Army arc.
