The future of Food Wars season 6 remains uncertain at the moment. The fifth season, which aired its last episode on September 25, was considered as the finale of the animated series. Now, the main question is whether or not the show is coming back for another chapter.

Initially, fans believed that the fourth installment would be the final one for the animated series. But, J.C Staff Studio surprised viewers by releasing another season, which premiered in April. Now, fans were optimistic that Food Wars season 6 is coming down the road.

The fan base of the anime continues to grow, with over 20 million copies of the manga have been printed as of March 2020. While the overall ratings declined every season, the series managed to maintain an average score on most platforms.

But, even though fans believed that there will be Food Wars season 6, the fifth installment already served as the finale for the series. When the final season was announced, it has been confirmed it would take the last BLUE arc of the manga. That means there's no more source material content moving forward.

Some also believed that Food Wars season 6 hasn't been renewed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The current global health crisis left a tremendous ill-impact on the entertainment industry, with most shows being canceled. Yet, the discontinuation of the anime has been determined even before the pandemic.

Still, there's hope for anime enthusiasts considering the popularity of the franchise. Even if Food Wars season 6 won't happen, there's a chance we'll see the series returning in the form of special episodes, OVAs, prequel, or even a movie in the future.

Meanwhile, the first four seasons are available to watch on Crunchyroll will original Japanese audio and English subtitles. The first three seasons are can also be streamed on Netflix, while season 1 is on HiDive. The fifth season, on the other hand, is available worldwide on Crunchyroll for viewers outside Asia.

Food Wars is produced by J.C.Staff and directed by Yoshitomo Yonetani. The animated series was first confirmed back in 2014 and was broadcasted in Japan on TBS from April 3 to September 25, 2015. Sentai Filmworks licensed the show for digital and home video distribution in North America.
