SuperM marked another achievement and hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. The achievement came after the success of SuperM's debut EP last year which immediately hit the top of the charts.
SuperOne, SuperM's first comeback, is a full album containing 15 songs including two title tracks, "100" and "Tiger Inside."
Based on a report by All Kpop, SuperOne sold 104,000 copies with 101,000 coming from physical album sales and the rest coming from digital downloads.
In a statement, Billboard said that a huge part of the album's success was the merchandise and album bundles that were sold through SuperM's web stores.
SuperM stuck with the theme of their concept group being the "Avengers of Kpop" by partnering with Marvel for a range of co-branded items. Album sales were further boosted by the different variants of the album released on both digital and CD formats. SuperM even had a Target-exclusive version that carried different album packagings and posters, catering to the different fans.
In an interview with Elle Magazine, SuperM members Baekhyun, Taemin, Kai, Mark, Taeyong, Lucas, and Ten talked about their journey to become international Kpop superstars.
Since all the members came from different groups under SM Entertainment, they said they were already friends with each other even before SuperM was formed. However, they admitted that they felt awkward at first because of their senior-junior relationship. They quickly overcame the challenges and bonded together as a group.
Taemin, a member of the most senior group, SHINEE, said that he was happy to be able to perform for huge crowds in Europe and to have people recognize them on the streets. He said that he is elated over the growing popularity of Kpop in the world and vowed to exert all of his efforts to take Korean music to even bigger heights.
Baekhyun, the elected leader of SuperM, thanked the fans for their support. He credited their followers for their success and said that nothing would be possible without them. He said that one of his goals is to perform at the halftime of the US Super Bowl once things start to normalize after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Out of all the songs in their album, most of the members chose "Together at Home" as their favorite. SuperM said that the song carries more meaning to it given the current world situation.
During the interview, SuperM rallied the fans to hang on in spite of the hardships and promised to give their best performances once they are able to take the stage again.
