After much of speculations, My Hero Academia Season 5's release date has finally dropped. Shonenzup also launched a new trailer for the upcoming season, teasing what's to come.
The 18th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump revealed the renewal for a new season of My Hero Academia back in April. The end of the Season 4 finale also teased the coming of Season 5, along with an official announcement on Twitter. It was also revealed at this year's HeroFes event.
With the millions of fans that the anime series has amassed over time, it is no surprise that a new season will be given the green light. Anyhow, the confirmation is much better than any assumptions and theories.
According to HITC, the decision to renew or cancel an anime series is based on two things -- popularity and source material. Popularity wise, the show remains to be a hit worldwide, with a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes, 8.19 on MyAnimeList, and 8.5/10 on IMDb. It also has plenty of source material left ready to be adapted.
Recently, rumors emerged My Hero Academia Season 5 is set to be out next year. Now, the new trailer finally confirmed the news.
Streaming Wars noted the new season might be dropped in the first week of April 2021, following the release schedule of the three previous seasons. However, there are also strong assumptions that it may be split-cour. So, the second part may come in late July of the said year.
Anyhow, it remains to be seen how many episodes the fifth season will have, but rumors have it that it may have the same number of episodes as the previous season. Also, it remains to be seen what part of the manga series it will feature.
But, Devdiscourse reported My Hero Academia Season 5 might likely cover the Joint Training arc. Aside from this storyline, it may adapt the Meta Liberation Army arc and unveil The League of Villains and the past of Tomura Shigaraki.
Fans may get the chance to see the backstory of Tomura in the new season as a part of the Joint Training arc. As the main villain of the series, viewers are about to know a lot about this big bad this time.
It may also tackle Izuku's fight against evil. Of course, everyone wants to see what will happen next to All Might after revealing he's suffering from an illness. All these and more in the upcoming My Hero Academia Season 5.
