Vikings season 6 is on hiatus at the moment. The series has been off-air for several months already, with the midseason finale airing in February 2020. The official return date hasn't been announced, but the second half is expected to air before the year ends on History Channel.

There's no real concern for the return date of Vikings season 6 as the series often takes a long break between the first and second half of each installment. Now that we're nearing the end of the year, some speculated that new episodes will be dropping in November 2020.

This is the usual release date pattern of the series, with previous seasons returning in the last week of November. However, a lot of things happened over the past few months, such as the current global health crisis. It's yet to be seen whether or not the show could follow the pattern this time around.

Despite the long wait, fans have been getting a lot of teaser videos, hinting what's next in the story. In the first half, Prince Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky) and the Rus Vikings team up with Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) in an attack on Scandinavia.

Ivar stabbed his brother Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) during the battle, leaving fans worried about the fate of the latter. But, a short teaser was released during the virtual Comic-Con @ Home event in 2020 and confirmed that Bjorn is still alive.

Since then, no further details were revealed about the second half of Vikings season 6. Fans have been hoping for more promotional materials this year since this is the final installment. Some suggested that the official trailer should arrive in October as the trailer of the first half dropped a year ago.

The trailer could give more insight as to what else fans can expect moving forward. However, it won't likely be released until History Channel reveals the official release date of the second half. If the November schedule won't be followed, an early December premiere is feasible.

The second half of Vikings season 6 consists of 10 episodes, and they're expected to be dropped every week just like the preceding installments. These episodes will feature a lot of intense stories, with creator Michael Hirst teasing a "satisfying" ending.

Ivar might be leading Oleg into a trap, and he could eventually join Bjorn to overthrow Oleg in a huge plot twist. Meanwhile, there's a question whether Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) is dead or alive. He was last seen trapped in a cave in Iceland. Ubbe and his wife Torvi (Georgia Hirst) were hoping to find him.

Vikings season 6 needs to address the fate of King Harald (Peter Franzén) and Gunnhild (Ragga Ragnars), as well. The two ended up injured in battle, with Harald suffering a fatal blow and Gunnhild jumping in the sea to escape Ivar's arrows.
