A third-party accessories maker, MPOW Japan, late Monday unveiled a magnetically mounted "iPhone 12" wireless charging device, fueling rumors that the feature would be enabled by Apple's next-generation smartphone.

The as-yet-unnamed charger, revealed in a press release, is designed to support a new magnetic charging specification that will be launched with the "iPhone 12."

According to MPOW, the charger incorporates a "specially processed" ring-shaped magnet that is located centrally around a central charging coil. In "iPhone 12," the organization reports, a related structure is disposed of, allowing for a solid connection to compatible accessories.

The magnetic system solves disadvantages in current wireless systems such as inductive coil misalignment, which may create problems with power transmission or halt charging. In December, MPOW plans to release the charger.

Apple had previously tried to solve the problem of the "sweet spots" wireless charger with AirPower, an oval pad with multiple overlapping coils, and advanced power delivery algorithms that allowed two iPhones and one Apple Watch to be charged simultaneously. In early 2019, because of engineering obstacles, the project was officially scrapped, though rumors claim to have a new system built.

Meanwhile, third-party producers such as Nomad have taken steps to offer free placement for Qi-enabled devices.

Earlier today, Mac Otakara announced the release of MPOW.

At tomorrow's special event, Apple is rumored to launch its branded "iPhone 12" wireless charger puck. The latest leaks indicate that the accessory rekindles the MagSafe brand, although the charging process is still uncertain about system protection.

A much-loved wired Macbook charging device was the original MagSafe that allowed an attached cable to separate with a tug, the concept was passersby could trip over the cable and drag the machine with it.

Another topic of interest is whether the upcoming iPhone will have reverse charge - when a handset that can be charged wirelessly will also serve as a charging station to be used to charge another device wirelessly. Competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S20, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and the OnePlus 8 Pro have wireless and inverted wireless charging, so it's possible that Apple would take a leap on this, at least on the iPhone 12 Pro models (it's rumored that there will be four different iPhone 12 models: iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max and Phone 12 Mini).

It is not clear whether the anticipated charging puck and the rumored AirPower device are one and the same.
