Google has confirmed it has discontinued the Pixel 3a and 3a XL phones. The devices will not be available on the Google store, and the phone will only remain available on selected retailers until supplies last.

The tech giant confirmed the Pixel 3a and 3a XL's end of life to Android Police, and in a statement said that it has not supplied third-party retailers with stocks.

"Google Store has sold through its inventory and completed sales of Pixel 3a," a spokesperson for Google said. "For people who are still interested in buying Pixel 3a, the product is available from some partners while supplies last."

Google's more affordable Pixel smartphone was launched in 2019 at the I/O event to wide critical praise. It was even better received than the flagship Pixel 3 and 3 XL, with critics praising its strong value. For a sub-$400 package, the model had an excellent camera and the latest Google features.

The Pixel 4a, the successor to the Pixel 3a, is still nowhere to be seen, but rumor has it the device will be released as early as July to as lates as October. Although, it should be noted that Google discontinuing the Pixel 3a is quite a surprise given a replacement has not been introduced yet. Its more premium tier phones, the Pixel 4 and 4 XL have not been discounted either, and it's likely because of the coronavirus pandemic.

People have been looking forward to Google to consolidate all of its 2020 plans in one event. There were also reports that the Pixel 4a will be called 5a and that it will be announced in a virtual event, though nobody knows when.

As of the moment, we only have leaks as sources, with several of them claiming that the Pixel 4a will have 128GB of storage and will cost $350. Unlike the 3a, the 4a will be offered reportedly in one size.

Going back to earlier rumors, the Pixel 4a was supposed to have 64GB of storage and would be priced $400. However, Google might have changed its mind upon the launch of the new iPhone SE and scrapped plans to launch a 4a XL altogether.

Some retailers have already listed the Pixel 3a as "discontinued." Amazon still has a couple of retailers selling the model as of writing. Stock numbers are vague, but one thing is clear -- the Pixel 3a is no more.
