This Is Us season 5 kicks off with its two-hour premiere later this month, with the title "Forty." The series will visit a very significant event within this episode. Fans are going to see the Pearson siblings celebrating their 40th birthday, a notable affair for everyone.
A lot of stories are coming in the two-hour premiere of This Is Us season 5. The 40th birthday was when Rebecca (Mandy Moore) was brought back by the authorities after getting lost. Also, it's a reminder that things between Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Kevin (Justin Hartley) aren't going really well.
The two weren't on talking terms and there's no clear indication as to when things could get better between them. Now, NBC shared some details for the premiere episode, something that may force some of the characters to revisit their past.
According to the synopsis, the Pearsons gather to celebrate the big three's -- Randall, Kevin, and Kate (Chrissy Metz) -- 40th birthday. At the same time, they must contemplate the day they were born. It looks like this particular day is full of reflection.
However, not all of it may end on a happy note, especially with what Kevin said about Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca bringing Randall home. This incident caused the two brothers to further fuel their on-going feud. Their relationship has been tainted and there's no sign they're willing to reconcile.
The promo This Is Us season 5 premiere hints at a tense reunion of Randall and Kevin. At the end of the clip, Randall showed up at the cabin, where the police brought back Rebecca after getting lost. This possibly prompted Kate or Kevin to call Randall, who showed up there to the latter answering the door.
The promo also revealed that Madison (Caitlin Thompson) is there, confirming that there's no big twist wherein Kevin got another woman pregnant. While there's no engagement ring on her finger, her facial expression hints she and Kevin are trying to make their relationship work.
Meanwhile, the poster of This Is Us season 5 is similar to what we've seen in the past seasons. It's a compilation of each member of the Pearsons at different points in their lives. Jack and Rebecca look happy together in the past.
Randall and his wife Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) were also happy, while Kate and Toby (Chris Sullivan) take care of their Baby Jack. Kevin can be seen smiling even though he's alone. The poster comes with a tagline: "This season changes us forever."
This Is Us season 5 arrives on Tuesday, Oct. 27, on NBC.
