This Is Us season 5 is arriving later this month on NBC. Now, the first poster of the upcoming installment has been released and it raises a lot of questions moving forward. It looks like more surprises and changes are coming for the entire Pearson family.
The first poster of This Is Us season 5 is similar to what we've already seen in the past. It is a compilation of all the core cast members of the family at different points in their lives. For instance, Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) look happy together in the past.
The poster also features Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) taking care of their Baby Jack. Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and his wife, Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson), look happy together, as well. Kevin (Justine Hartley), on the other hand, is alone but he can be seen smiling.
The photo comes with a tagline "This season changes us forever." There are a lot of speculations as to what this could mean. For instance, CarterMatt noted the message could be tied to what's going on with Kevin, who's getting ready to raise his twins with Madison (Caitlin Thompson).
This is one of the biggest plot twists in his storyline. But then, it remains to be seen whether or not he and Madison could end up together. For the time being, it seems like they're going to make some things work between them. This is something that will be further explored in This Is Us season 5.
In addition, Kevin needs to balance out his personal struggle, as his relationship with Randall is on the rocks. The two aren't on talking terms, based on what was shown in some flash-forward scenes. There is no indication that they're willing to reconcile anytime soon.
Also, Brown revealed to TVLine in June that the upcoming episodes of This Is Us season 5 would include storylines all about Randall's past. As for Kate, Metz teased that viewers would learn why her character started using for as a coping mechanism since she's been through things that weren't shown yet.
Meanwhile, the change in the new season might also be a reference to what's happening in the real-world at the moment. Series creator Dan Fogelman promised that the latest installment tackles life during the current global health crisis "head-on."
This Is Us season 5 kicks off with its two-hour premiere episode on Tuesday, Oct. 27, on NBC.
