K-pop is a very competitive and cruel world. Dreamers with thick skin are, most of the time, the only ones who can pursue this career as it is something that requires a lot of hard work, perseverance, and confidence.
Some people see K-pop stars as nothing but plain entertainers. What they didn’t know is the struggle and suffering that these idols had to endure to get to where they are now.
That said, RM received backlash for his decision to become a K-pop idol in the past. During an episode of Yaman TV, the BTS leader shared that a lot of people were disappointed in his choice. “Why did a hardworking guy like you suddenly debut as an idol?” he recalled someone telling him.
Before becoming a trainee in Big Hit Entertainment, RM was already known as an underground rapper. Some people criticized him for joining the K-pop world as they didn’t think that it was a place for rappers like him.
RM admitted that these negative comments bothered him a lot and wanted to prove these people wrong. “At first, I used to obsess a lot over that. I thought I needed to prove myself because I debuted as an idol and that I needed to show something with my music,” he shared.
Eventually, RM realized that being affected by these negative comments would not do him any good. Instead, the BTS rapper poured his time, energy, and effort into making music that inspires other people.
BTS is known for promoting self-love and acceptance. RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have reminded their fans numerous times that they should love and accept themselves because who they are is enough.
RM did not say that he has proven all his bashers wrong. The truth is that he didn’t need to. BTS has reached the superstardom status and is the biggest boy group on the planet right now. The “Persona” rapper’s accomplishments are enough proofs to confirm that becoming an idol was the right decision.
Despite their success, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook remain humble and grateful, which made their fans love them even more. While other popular celebrities have forgotten where they came from and who supported them to reach the top, BTS always show immense gratitude to ARMYs.
