BLACKPINK is not even five years old, but the group has already achieved superstardom status. Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa are not only successful in South Korea and throughout Asia, but they have reached worldwide success in a very short amount of time.

That said, BLACKPINK quickly became the “It Girls” in the K-pop world. Every time Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa have a comeback, they not only top the charts, but they break records after records.

Because of their popularity, BLACKPINK is in demand all around the globe. In fact, Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa made history last year, becoming the first K-pop girl group to ever perform at Coachella, which is an annual music and arts festival in the U.S. This confirms that they are among the most popular and successful K-pop artists in recent history.

But, just because BLACKPINK is dominating the world, that does not mean that the girls have forgotten where they came from. During a recent episode of Knowing Brothers, Jennie revealed that she requested their agency to give them more Korean variety show appearances.

Jennie is in charge of speaking with YG Entertainment regarding BLACKPINK’s requests and complaints. The 24-year-old singer and rapper shared that she told the company that they want to be a part of Korean variety shows more often.

The BLACKPINK star then explained the reason why they are not allowed to join Korean variety shows as many times as they wanted. Since Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa have a very hectic schedule during their comebacks, YG Entertainment wants to make sure that they get the rest that they needed during their downtime.

“Our agency tries to give us some time to rest by limiting our show appearances,” Jennie said, noting that the reason why they were able to go to Knowing Brothers is because they told YG Entertainment that they really want to be on the show.

K-pop is a very competitive world. Idol groups are constantly formed, which means that there is a lot of competition in the industry. New and old groups join these popular Korean variety shows mainly for exposure. This way, K-pop fans would see the artists off stage and get to know their personality a little bit more.

As for BLACKPINK, YG Entertainment may have not seen the need for the girls to join these shows, and giving Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa a break is more important.
