Fans will once again see Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde 3. Sadly, viewers still have to wait for another two years before seeing the return of the sorority-girl-turned-Harvard-University-law-student on the big screen.

Originally, Legally Blonde 3 was set to be released this February. However, it was canceled even before the COVID-19 pandemic happened.

Of course, Witherspoon will reprise her iconic role in the third movie, along with some other original cast. Devdiscourse noted Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor would write the script of the upcoming film. Its new director has yet to be announced.

Recently, the Legally Blonde cast got reunited for a virtual discussion, 19 years after the first movie came out. Witherspoon joined Selma Blair (Vivian Kensington), Jessica Cauffiel (Margot), and Jennifer Coolidge (Paulette Bonafonté) for the reunion special.

Also, Matthew Davis (Warner Huntington III), Ali Larter (Brooke Taylor Windham), Holland Taylor (Professor Stromwell), Alanna Ubach (Serena McGuire), and Luke Wilson (Emmett Richmond) were there. Aside from the upcoming Legally Blonde 3, they all talked about the franchise's long-lasting impact on pop culture.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Witherspoon revealed people would often ask her to do the "bend and snap." It was the flirtatious move Elle taught Paulette in the film back then. Sadly, the 44-year-old star disclosed it was the only full musical scene in the film that they ended up cutting out.

Legally Blonde 3 is expected to continue the story of Elle. After going to Harvard Law School to study law to win back her ex, she ended up creating a new career for herself as a lawyer.

Witherspoon admitted she only got the chance to go to college in the movie. She wasn't able to finish her studies, but she proudly said she finished Legally Blonde.

The cast and crew all worked together to make a movie that inspired many. The Morning Show star considered it as a "gift." So, every time someone would come up to say they loved the film, she shared it with the people who worked for it in front of and behind the camera.

Legally Blonde first hit the big screen in 2001 and became a big hit, earning a whopping $141 million at the box office. The sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, was then out in 2003 and earned $125 million worldwide. With its success, Legally Blonde 3 is expected to experience the same on its release in May 2022.
