The Crown season 4 could ruffle some feathers once it's released on Netflix, especially when it comes to the portrayal of Queen Elizabeth. Actress Emma Corrin, who plays Princess Diana in the series, revealed that she struggled with how Olivia Colman acted out her character as the monarch.

In an interview with Town & Country magazine, Corrin said that she was not used to seeing Colman, her very friendly co-star, be so "stone cold horrible" on camera as Queen Elizabeth. The actress said that Colman was so effective at her transformation in The Crown season 4 that she took it personally.

In the same interview, Colman, who reprises the role from last season, acknowledged that it will be a different Queen Elizabeth in the upcoming episodes. She said that she is playing a monarch with a "simmering impatience" in her 60s. However, as an actress, Colman said that it's a challenge to play the Queen with bitterness and jealousy as an older woman.

The Crown season 4 will cover the time period of the tumultuous marriage of Prince Charles (Josh O'Connor) to Princess Diana. The dramatization of the Netflix show will start off as a fairytale but it will eventually get ugly.

As history has shown, Prince Charles and Princess Diana were trapped in a loveless marriage that bore two royal brothers, Prince William and Prince Harry. However, Queen Elizabeth remained in control of Prince Charles behind closed doors, to protect the monarchy, that this easily became one of the most turbulent decades in the royal family.

The Crown, however, is only inspired by real-life events. Season after season, many royalists would usually say that the show gets it wrong so many times.

Meanwhile, following the breakdown of the marriage between the Prince and Princess of Wales, Queen Elizabeth allegedly took it upon herself to have weekly lunches with her grandson, William.

According to Robert Lacey, who penned the biography Battle of Brothers: William and Harry - The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult, a 15-year-old Prince William once screamed at his father to express his loathing. He apparently resented Prince Charles for making his mother cry all the time.

The biographer claimed that Queen had serious concerns that William was on the brink of a mental breakdown due to his parents' separation. The monarch had to step up her role as the grandmother while her heir sorted out his marital issues.

The Crown season 4 is set to premiere on Netflix on Nov. 15.
