BLACKPINK reached another milestone in their career and became the first million-seller Kpop girl group through their first full album.

According to a report by Soompi, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose became the first Kpop girl group to surpass one million units in sales for any girl group in South Korea.

Based on sales data released by YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK's The ALBUM sold 1,209,543 units. The figure accounts for domestic sales of approximately 871,355 and international sales from the US and Europe amounting to 319,300. BLACKPINK also sold 18,888 copies of the limited edition vinyl LP version.

It can be recalled that even before the album's release, BLACKPINK already broke the 23-year record of SES for the best-selling album for Kpop girl groups. YG announced that as soon as pre-selling opened, the label already received 800,000 pre-orders of BLACKPINK's album which contained pre-release singles "How You Like That" and "Ice Cream," All Kpop reported.

Apart from topping iTunes' Top Albums chart in 57 countries, all of BLACKPINK's songs also made it to the top 25 of Spotify's Global 50 chart.

"Lovesick Girls" also became the highest-ranking debut for any Kpop girl group on the streaming platform as it entered the list at No. 3.The ALBUM continued to fare well in the charts and stayed strong in No. 10 of Billboard 200.

BLACKPINK received massive international attention when their documentary Light Up the Sky premiered on Netflix last October 14. Through the documentary, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose were able to connect with fans as they shared their journey starting from their trainee days until they reached superstardom at the Coachella Music Festival.

The documentary received good reviews, and director Caroline Suh revealed that she was open to doing a sequel for Netflix. BLINKs who watched the film said that it may have been the filmmaker's intention all along since she closed out the documentary with Jennie's statement that what fans watched was just the beginning for BLACKPINK, Koreaboo reported.

As BLACKPINK grows in popularity in the world, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rose are expanding their influence to major fashion brands through endorsement deals, Glossy reported. Lisa just landed a deal with MAC Cosmetics, Bulgari, and Celine while Rose was selected as the global ambassador of Saint Laurent.

Jennie is also a global ambassador of Chanel while Jisoo was chosen as the face of Dior.

According to MAC Cosmetics global creative director Drew Elliot, he's had his eye on BLACKPINK ever since they entered the Coachella line up in 2019. He said that the signed Lisa to endorse new innovative products by the make up brand.
