It has been said time and again that the reason Sherlock Season 5 has yet to be in the works is the busy schedule of its stars and showrunners. The network itself has a lot on its plate that it has to complete before doing new projects.
According to Devdiscourse, fans may once again see the lovable duo of Sherlock on Watson on the small screen in 2022 when all the major projects get completed. Some sources said BBC One couldn't let go of the show.
Cumberbatch once said he and his team would definitely work on a new season. The cast, along with the creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, have been assuring fans the show is not yet canceled.
Amid the cancellation rumors, Cumberbatch stressed no one had closed the door on Sherlock Season 5. On the other hand, Martin claimed he, the Doctor Strange star, Gatiss, and Moffat wanted to create a superb Sherlock Season 5 when they all got time.
If a new season will indeed be in the works, fans will also see the return of Louise Brealey and Sian Brook, reprising their roles as Molly and Elizabeth, respectively. So, what will happen in the new season?
The previous season unveiled a lot of revelations about Sherlock's family. It was revealed he had a secret sister, Eurus (Sian Brooke). Magazine 99 noted her arrival dramatically changed the show's plot.
In the Season 4 finale, Eurus "marked an entry as Virtuoso controller." With a lot of questions left hanging, it is only befitting that there will be Sherlock Season 5.
Fans want to know more about Sherlock's sister. Also, they want to see if Eurus and Sherlock will end up solving much deeper mysteries together.
