G-Dragon is reportedly preparing for a solo comeback. The news was confirmed by a source from YG Entertainment.

According to a report by Soompi, the news excited many fans who have been waiting for new music from the BIGBANG leader for over a year since his military discharge.

It can be recalled that G-Dragon's last solo album entitled Kwon Jiyong was released in 2017. To promote the album, he completed a world tour for Act III: MOTTE before he enlisted for mandatory service in February 2018.

Kwon Jiyong is G-Dragon's real name. He said he used it for the album's title because he wanted to show a more personal side to his fans through his songs.

G-Dragon sold out stadiums all over the world for the tour and showcased his creativity in releasing the album through USB, instead of the CD format. The USBs were coated in reading but bore the inscriptions Kwon Ji Yong, Blood type A, 1988, August 18, referring to G-Dragon's personal information. While the physical sales of the album was not credited by Korean sales charts, it did not prevent Kwon Jiyong from dominating the music charts in Korea and worldwide, Billboard reported.

Very little is known about G-Dragon's comeback but VIPs are already excited about it because of G-Dragon's reputation as one the best record producers and songwriters of his time. GD recently came in second in the updated ranking for Kpop artists with the most number of copyrighted songs. Even without new material, he held on to his record of 174 songs credited under his name, All Kpop reported.

Recently, it came to light that Big Entertainment CEO Bang Si Hyuk once credited the BIGBANG leader for being one of the best record producers of his time. The statement was found by a VIP on the fan site Pann.

According to a report, CEO Bang's comment referred to previous allegations that G-Dragon plagiarised Flo Rida's song "Right Around."

CEO Bang said that he was surprised at the people who believed that G-dragon would copy another artist. He credited the BIGBANG leader for being a composer and a producer with tremendous talent. He said that he was a fan of BIGBANG's hit songs "Haru Haru" and "Lies" which were both composed and produced by G-Dragon. The Big HIt boss even likened him to a modern-day Mozart.

CEO Bang posted an assurance that Kwon Jiyong was the best composer of his time, and added that he would lead the music industry in the future.

Meanwhile, CEO Bang is well known for his appreciation and cultivation of talent. During his early days as an artist of Big Hit Entertainment, Jo Kwon said that the label's CEO was very frank with him in terms of the direction he wanted to take in his music career. He said that it was CEO Bang who bought him his first pair of heels. CEO Bang was also instrumental in the rise of BTS to the heights of the global entertainment industry.
