The rematch pitting Conor McGregor against Dustin Poirier is on as UFC president Dana White confirmed that the January 23 fight date is already set, and possibly will be held in Las Vegas. Both MMA fighters will tussle in the lightweight division, and as affirmed by the Irishman in his social media posts.

White has informed media personnel on Saturday that the McGregor vs. Poirier is already locked. But the UFC chief stopped short of providing further details like where the second meet will be staged.

McGregor had previously suggested the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas as the most suitable venue but White shot down the idea. Without the possibility of in-person attendance for the MMA showdown, White said the rematch will likely take place in Las Vegas or Abu Dhabi.

The Notorious himself confirmed that his clash with Poirier will be a lightweight match although the two-division champ made clear that he intends to fight and win titles in two divisions. McGregor said one of his goals in 2021 is to campaign in the lightweight and welterweight divisions and rule both.

Also, the Irishman boldly predicted that he will defeat his American opponent via a first-round knockout, per the report from Insider. If his projection proves correct, McGregor will either replicate or improve on his performance from his first skirmish with Poirier.

In 2014, McGregor scored a win over Poirier in less than two minutes, and the flamboyant is aiming to make it quicker the next time around.

The confirmed fight date will happen one year after McGregor's last UFC outing that saw Donald Cerrone going down in just 40 seconds. The MMA star said he is working hard to do the same with Poirier, whom he described as "a hell of a fighter."

However, the Irishman insisted he is bound to win, and just because he is McGregor, which he claimed makes him the better fighter.

And the 32-year-old gave an assurance that things only got better for him after the stunning victory over Cerrone. He boasted that he is "infinite times" better than the last fight and is excited to enter the octagon again.

McGregor also took the time to touch on the likelihood of facing his previous opponents again. According to MMA Fighting, the MMA superstar is open to the possibility of going for a trilogy with Nate Diaz. If something is scheduled with Diaz, McGregor said he will be ready.

The same goes for Khabib Nurmagomedov, who decided to exit the game for good after registering 29 wins with no losses. McGregor said the Russian is "a phenomenal grappler fighter," but a second meet with The Eagle will lead to one thing. McGregor said he will emerge surely as the winner.
