FBI season 3 is officially arriving next week on CBS. The series has been on hiatus since earlier this year, with the second installment being cut short due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The good news is that everyone is back, especially Missy Peregrym following her maternity leave.
Ahead of its release, FBI season 3 dropped a 20-second promo featuring more action-packed scenes. While the clip didn't show any specifics as to what's coming, it's clear that everyone will be facing more dangerous cases and missions along the way.
Maggie (Peregrym), OA (Zeeko Zaki), and others will continue to track and take down the bad guys. The title of the premiere episode is "Never Trust A Stanger," which is a reference to someone's arrival. In the synopsis, the team welcomes their new member, Special Agent Tiffany Wallace (Katherine Renee Turner).
It has been previously confirmed that Turner is the latest series regular in FBI season 3. Her character, Wallace, is described as an "outspoken Bed-Stuy native." She spent her time with the NYPD for six years, mostly in the narcotics division.
Wallace also fell in love with being a Fed after working on a joint task force, though she's an outlier at Fed 26. Considering the premiere episode title, her arrival could shake things up within the department. Some of them may not immediately trust her, at first.
While welcoming Wallace on board, the team has to find the killers responsible for the mass shooting at a media company. However, the case will be quite complicated because of OA's personal connection with it. The situation could threaten to cloud his judgment.
FBI season 3 will further explore Maggie's storyline, as well. She temporarily left in season 2 and her story wasn't properly wrapped up as production was halted due to the pandemic. Peregrym was on maternity leave at the time and was supposed to return in the season 2 finale.
But then, the previous season was cut short and opted to deliver an alternative ending. Three more episodes were left in season 2, though CBS hasn't confirmed if these remaining episodes will be aired in the new installment. It remains to be seen whether the pandemic storyline will be incorporated, as well.
As for what else is coming, showrunner Rick Eid told TV Insider that the latest season will feature drug cartels, domestic terrorists, kidnappers, and series killers. Also, He's hoping to do a crossover with the spin-off, FBI: Most Wanted.
FBI season 3 premieres on Tuesday, Nov. 17, on CBS.
