In just a couple of days, fans are about to see Red (James Spader) and Liz's (Megan Boone) return in the upcoming The Blacklist Season 8. NBC has dropped a new trailer for the upcoming season's premiere episode and it looks like things will be once again pretty intense.

According to Epic Dope, The Blacklist Season 8 Episode 1's official title will be "Roanoke." Here, Red asks the Task Force to investigate the criminal Roanoke, who is behind the elaborated killings. On the other hand, Liz takes a different path as she meets her mom to put together a secret plan.

But what will be the new plotline that the new season is about to take? Cinemablend noted it might delve into Red's illness, which had been revealed since Season 6.

Will the disease cause Red's demise? The criminal mastermind has been avoiding death several times. But if his health goes downward spiral, can he still steer clear of it?

In Season 6 Episode 3, Red had a big need with The Pharmacist, who was working on a cure for his life-threatening neurological illness. Red even told Ressler that he was already dying, which seemed to ring true after he collapsed and got revived in the Season 7 finale.

The Blacklist Season 8 will be the third season that Rey's mysterious disease will be featured. Aside from his identity, it also takes time before this illness comes to light.

Will he die of this sickness? By the looks of it, his health crisis is beginning to get more severe, while this storyline has been in development for years.

Will Katarina save Red from this disease or she will replace his role when he's dead? It may be hard to imagine The Blacklist without Red. Although there are a lot of key players that may take his part, nobody can replace him. If The Blacklist Season 8 will be the end of the crime drama, it may come to a close with Red's demise.

The new season's premiere episode is set to be out on Friday, November 13, at 8 p.m. on NBC. Usually, the show's new seasons premiere either in September or October, per HITC.

However, with the COVID-19 pandemic, everything has been delayed. Anyhow, as the show was only moved by a month, it looked like its production wasn't badly affected by the coronavirus lockdown.
