Prison Break Season 6 may never come into being after Dominic Purcell announced his exit following Wentworth Miller's surprising departure. The 50-year-old star has been teasing the making of a new season since its revival ended, but it looks like it is not happening anymore.

Purcell's Instagram page is filled with Prison Break Season 6 update. He said the show is now in the process of making and currently under production, assuring it would take place, Devdiscourse noted.

But, with the recent turn of events, it seems very unlikely that a new season will come. After Miller announced his exit, his on-screen brother also backed out from the show.

In a clip, the Australian actor said he couldn't persuade or would even attempt to convince Miller to "betray his truth." He then confirmed a sixth season is not going to happen and if it does, he and Miller would never be a part of it.

Purcell revealed he is loyal to Miller, so when he exits, he will leave, too. In a post on Instagram, the 48-year-old English-American actor said he is done doing "straight characters," including his iconic role of Michael Scofield.

According to Den of Geek, Miller came out as gay in August 2013. At the time, he just finished writing a letter on GLAAD's website, revealing how deeply troubled he was after learning how the Russian government treated LGBT members.

In the post, the DC's Legends of Tomorrow star said he is officially out of the franchise. He cleared his exit was not because of the social media backlash, but of his character as a straight guy. So, fans would never see Michael anymore, apologizing to everyone who was still looking forward to seeing Prison Break Season 6.

Miller and Purcell had been part of the show since it started in 2006. In 2017, the series received a revival that made fans hopeful for another season.

Despite the assumptions, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier denied in 2019 that there would be Prison Break Season 6 coming. He said there was no plan to do a new season unless the creators could come up with a unique story that might be good to tell. Collier said he would be all ears if this would happen, thankful that the franchise was part of the network's line-up.
