Donald and Melania Trump remained active on social media following the announcement of the results of this year's presidential race. While the turn-out of votes shows that the U.S. President lost against his rival, he has yet to concede and has since sparked allegations of electoral fraud.

Amid the controversies, the First Couple made a "rare" appearance on Wednesday, according to People. To mark this year's Veterans Day, the Trumps attended the wreath-laying ceremony at Virginia's Arlington National Cemetery.

Vice President Mike Pence and Veterans Affairs Robert Wilkie joined the pair during the event. Their spouses, as well as Ivanka Trump, were, also, present.

The publication said that Donald Trump did not make a speech and chose to stand in the rain for the entirety of the event. He stood beside the outgoing Vice President as the ceremony played the National Anthem.

Arlington requires masks for visitors and guests due to the ongoing pandemic crisis. The cemetery's official Twitter account even informed the public about the requirement to be able to get to the grounds.

However, Trump and the rest of the group, including Melania Trump, arrived at the venue without face coverings. They have since received criticisms and mockeries on social media for not following the guidelines.

Yahoo! News reported, later on, that several netizens could not look past the maskless attendance of Donald and Melania Trump. After the First Lady updated her followers about their appearance, many critics slammed her in the comment section for not following the protocols.

"You didn't wear a mask," one netizen said, adding that she should continue with her "Be Best rhetoric" in a sarcastic manner. "How un-American," another responded, noting that it was very "disrespectful."

Aside from the criticisms centering on their failure to wear face coverings, many individuals got mad for their late arrival. Some critics pointed out that they arrived about 15 minutes later and made everyone wait for them in the rain.

"You were late," a different Twitter user posted. The same netizen, then, noted that they "once again" showed how much they "disrespect" the country's military.

Reports, also, mentioned how "weird" it was to see Melania Trump in the arms of another man. Several photos during the event have since gone public, showing the First Lady holding the arm of a soldier beside her.

This has since sparked talks and discussions on social media, claiming that she was seemingly "distancing" herself from Donald Trump. In one of the photos, the U.S. President was walking ahead of her and the soldier, while she was glancing at him.

Netizens immediately mocked the First Couple after the photos blew the internet. Melania "finally found someone capable of holding an umbrella," one netizen quipped. She did not "want to touch" Donald Trump's "nasty hand," another added.
