The Curse of Oak Island season 8 episode 2 will continue to follow the Lagina brothers', Rick and Marty, journey in uncovering the 224-year old treasure mystery on the island. The reality treasure hunting show returned on History just recently, with a premiere episode titled "Remote Control."

In The Curse of Oak Island season 8 episode 2, the Laginas and the team are inching closer to unearthing the speculated treasure or the "Money Pit." The current installment is considered to be the biggest so far as they're using new strategies and more modern technologies.

At the end of season 7, the team conducted seismic testing since they believed that a sunken ship may have been buried in a triangle-shaped swamp. This particular swamp becomes the major focus of excavation in the show's latest outing.

Now, the group is using sonic core drillings, as well as strategic dives to dig what lies beneath the swamp. Also, the team has no problem accessing the land without any permission issues since they have a full partnership forged with Tom Nolan, the late Fred Nolan's son.

The Curse of Oak Island season 8 episode 2 sees the team continues conducting extensive metal detecting to locate the Money Pit. Rick, Marty, and the group are hoping that with their project "Big Dig," they will be able to uncover the speculated valuable materials.

The cofferdam located at Smith's Cove becomes one of the major areas where the team will undergo detailed investigations, as well. It is, reportedly, popular for hosting manmade structures dating 20 years prior to the discovery of the Money Pit back in 1975.

The Curse of Oak Island season 8 episode 2 picks up where the first episode left off. In the premiere, it was noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted their hunt for the speculated treasure. Despite the challenges, the team's diver Tyler Newton almost unearthed gold.

After diving 170 feet deep underwater, he noticed a shiny object. He was able to get a hold of it, but he lost it along the way as slipped through his fingers and fell back into the water. They attempted to retrieve the item but it wasn't possible due to the lowered visibility in the water.

Meanwhile, Gary Drayton discovered something using his new metal detector. He detected a new circular formation, which he later on concluded that other men may have landed on the site before. He also found an old gold coin, hinting that they're getting closer to the speculated Money Pit.

The Curse of Oak Island season 8 episode 2 airs on Tuesday, Nov. 17 on History Channel.
