Six years after The Expendables 3's release, fans are still patiently waiting for The Expendables 4. As the movie seems to come and go, will the much-loved iconic actions star of today even make it on the big screen?

Cinemablend noted it was in 2016 when The Expendables 4 was announced to come. The original cast members, like Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, were all expected to return.

However, in 2017, Stallone revealed he couldn't find common ground with producer Avi Lerner, even a director. Lerner was the same producer that Terry Crews claimed to be why he would not return in the fourth movie installment.

In the same year, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed he wouldn't do the film without Stallone, leaving fans so little hope for the movie's production. However, in 2018, the 74-year-old star gave fans a glimpse of hope again.

In 2019, Stallone shared a throwback photo with Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, pumping up fans. He then revealed he was already cooking something for the fourth film after getting some inspiration from the 4th of July event.

With these updates, what are the new developments made for The Expendables 4? According to Devdiscourse, the film has seen a lot of major progress this 2020.

Jean-Claude Van Damme told Stallone and Lerner that he could be a villain and he would have his own team, composed of his son, Kris and daughter Bianca. They would be the new members of the franchise who would face the old squad, led by Barney Ross.

Vértice Cine, the Spanish distribution company that collaborates with Lionsgate and Millennium Films, announced The Expendables 4 would be one of its upcoming projects. Patrick Hughes would also return to direct the movie.

In an interview with Randy Couture, who plays the role of Toll Road, with The Action Elite, via TeCake, he said the movie is already a thing after getting a copy of the script last year. He even revealed he enjoyed reading and teased it was "very well done."

However, when it comes to production, Cotoure has no idea at all. There are a lot of things still going on behind the scenes with a film this big, so he is hoping that it will get the green light soon.

Sadly, he hasn't heard anything definitive about it right now. The movie's production is also affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, so fans may have to wait longer for the making of The Expendables 4.
