The CW is the home of most superhero series and the network is open to bringing more of such shows. Now, viewers will be seeing another new superhero story as it has been revealed that the Wonder Girl series is in development.

Wonder Girl is said to be in the works at The CW. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. TV and the network, along with Berlanti Productions, teamed up with Queen of the South's executive producer/co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez to develop the new series.

The project is still in its early stage, but it will, reportedly, focus on Yara Flor. The character is a "Latina Dreamer" and she is the daughter of an Amazonian Warrior and a Brazilian River God. When she found out that she's a superhero, she must learn how to fight evil forces in order to protect the world.

Yara, however, wasn't the first to hold the mantle of the titular superhero. There is another version of the character, so some were confused with the introduction of a new Wonder Girl. Yara is going to make her debut in DC's comic books this January in Future State: Wonder Woman.

Only a few things were known about Yara, but she'll defend Themyscira in the absence of Diana Prince -- the original Wonder Woman. While the series has yet to reveal further details, the comic sees the character going on an adventure underworld to save one of his sisters from Hades.

The synopsis hinted that she'll "change the history of Wonder Woman forever." But, the upcoming The CW series is seemingly changing some of Yara's origin story. Recent reports suggest that the character is a Dreamer who later on discovered she's a superhero and will take on evils planning to destroy the world.

Meanwhile, the new series marks the first Latina superhero titular character of a DCTV series. The show is executive produce by Rodriguez, daughter of Cuban immigrants, alongside Berlanti Productions' Greg Berlanti, David Madden, and Sarah Schechter.

If the project will push through, the series is the latest Arrowverse programming joining Batwoman, The Flash, Black Lightning, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. The latter is dropping its final season in 2021, so it makes sense The CW brings another superhero series onboard.

The cast is yet to be revealed given that the project is currently in its early stage. No official release date has been set and there's no clear indication as to when the production could start. Viewers will get more updates when more information is available about Wonder Girl.
