The Flash season 7 won't be coming to The CW this year due to the current global health crisis. The good news is that the cast and crew are back to work and filming new episodes of the latest installment. In addition to that, the official release date has been confirmed already.

Recently, The CW unveiled the premiere dates of some of their shows -- including The Flash season 7. It has been confirmed that the superhero series will be dropping its new episodes starting on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, on the network.

The pandemic is one of the major reasons for the delay of the new installment, though lengthy production is another factor, as well. The long wait would allow everyone to wrap up everything -- especially since season 6 was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

When The Flash season 7 premieres, the top priority is to address some of the stories left in the previous installment. While it's unlikely for the superhero series to address the pandemic, all of them need to adjust because of the real-life health crisis.

Production is underway, but new rules have been implemented to keep everyone's safety. Health guidelines and protocols must be followed, along with certain filming limitations. For instance, there won't be too many extras this time around.

In a recent interview with TVLine, showrunner Eric Wallace noted that the series tends to have huge crowd scenes in finales. However, that thing has to change in the upcoming installment, considering the new regulations implemented because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The originally-planned season 6 finale will be addressed first before moving forward to the next chapter. From there, we could see a few changes in the story to accommodate the current situation. Fight scenes will still be featured, but they could be presented differently.

As for the story itself, The Flash season 7 will answer the biggest question in season 6: Can Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) escape the Mirrorverse? She's been stuck there for a long time already, and her time there may have caused a significant change in her life.

Now, it looks like she'll be reunited with her husband, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), in the early run of the next chapter. Patton told TV Insider that Iris is coming out "very soon," and the series will show what happened to her while she's inside the Mirrorverse.

The actress noted that everyone will do their best in order to get Iris out and save her. However, there could be a residual mental effect on her since she's trapped in the Mirrorverse with the supervillain, Eva/Mirror Mistress (Efrat Dor). She may not be the same in The Flash season 7.
