The Flash season 7 is not coming anytime soon on The CW. Despite the wait, the network has been sharing some updates as to what viewers can expect next. The upcoming installment will dive into more surprising areas and features some familiar faces.

It has been confirmed that John Wesley Shipp is returning as Jay Garrick in The Flash season 7. This is good news for the fans of the character, given that he's one of the casualties during the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover events.

His death comes after the Multiverse has been reset, losing the original Earth-3. In a recent interview with Den of Geek, Shipp discussed how showrunner Eric Wallace planned to bring his character back in the picture, as well as his wife, Joan (Michelle Harrison).

Shipp said that he knew Garrick is coming back on the series, but his appearance was supposed to be at a further point of the story. They weren't able to appear at the end of the previous installment due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Now, they'll tie up some things in The Flash season 7.

The actor, then, revealed that Wallace wanted to talk about how they could bring Garrick back in the story. He and Joan are both on Earth-Prime, and we're going to see what they come up with moving forward. Shipp added that their appearance is going to be an interesting one.

Since the series often uses time travel, along with the long-term effects of the Crisis, we could see a lot of different permutations of Garrick. Perhaps, he does not have any memories of the loss of the Multiverse restored. It's interesting to see how his arrival would play out this time around.

For now, however, it remains to be seen when Garrick will officially appear. The Flash season 7 needs to wrap up first the remaining stories left in season 6. The show was forced to shut down earlier this year due to the current global health crisis and opted for an alternative finale.

The new season kicks off with a storyline about Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton), who has been in the Mirrorverse for a long time already. She was trapped there in the second half of the previous season, and her time there may have potentially changed who she is. Her husband, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), will do whatever he can to get Iris out of the Mirrorverse.

The Flash season 7 is expected to premiere in 2021.
