The Flash season 7 hasn't kicked off production as of yet. The cast and crew weren't able to start working immediately because of the current global health crisis. But, the upcoming installment is expected to premiere next year.

Despite the potential delay, we could expect a lot of interesting stories in The Flash season 7. For instance, Joe West's (Jesse L. Martin) storyline will be explored. The character will be a way for the series to reference some of the social issues around the world.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Eric Wallace said they're working their way through Joe's wonderful storyline in the new season. The character will be challenged by the current events of the world and it will be shown in a "sci-fi superhero way."

Wallace added that he's proud of Joe and he's excited for Martin to take the character in a new direction. Joe is a good man with a good heart, and he's not a person who turns a blind eye once he sees injustice. He is someone who says and does something -- especially if it's for the good of all.

Also, Wallace teased they're working on the script at the moment. But, Joe's storyline is not in the first batch, it's more in the middle of The Flash season 7. He further hinted that the character goes through some changes and he'll end up in an unexpected place.

The showrunner said that Joe's storyline is the most exciting thing he's ever been able to write. This is a chance to learn more about the character moving forward. In addition, it's interesting to see how his changes will impact other characters.

Meanwhile, the latest trailer of The Flash season 7 featured a lot of intense scenes, with the race to saving Iris (Candice Patton) being the biggest one. She's been stuck in the Mirrorverse for too long and this could have hugely impacted her life.

The trailer hinted she's hallucinating and staring to see herself, causing chaos in her mind. Barry (Grant Gustin) needs to do whatever he can to get his wife out of the Mirrorverse. However, doing this is not easy at all and he needs the help of other characters.

One of the biggest problems of Barry is that he's seemingly losing his speed. While he could use an artificial speed for the time being, some things may not entirely work for him. In The Flash season 7, we could see him trying to get his powers back while on a quest saving Iris.
