Legends of Tomorrow season 6 is not coming until next year on The CW. The series wasn't able to begin filming immediately due to the current global health crisis. But, despite the delay, some details about the upcoming installment have been revealed already.
For instance, a new character is arriving and could shake up the story. Recently, TVLine reported that The Vampire Diaries alum Raffi Barsoumian is joining the rest of the cast in Legends of Tomorrow season 6. The actor is set to play the role of Bishop, a potential Big Bad moving forward.
Based on the official character description, Bishop has seen the end of the world and he believes that he has a way on how to save it. He shows his love of humanity, but behind that, he's actually not great with people. He could be a thorn to other Legends along the way.
Also, Bishop pretends to enjoy his luxurious and sociable lifestyle with his killer vinyl collection and cognac. Yet, the truth is, he's a sadistic egomaniac and treats all living creatures -- humans and aliens -- as his scientific playthings. It seems like the character is the new Big Bad this time around.
Because of his actions, the Legends will eventually realize that Bishop's drive to play god could hasten the end of the world. It's not an accident that he happened to live to witness the world's end. His brilliant scientific mind helped him give himself some certain enhancements.
Meanwhile, both Adam Tsekhman, who plays Gary, and Shayan Sobhian, who plays Behrad, have been promoted to regulars. Moreover, it was confirmed that Olivia Swann is returning as Astra in Legends of Tomorrow season 6 full-time.
The upcoming installment could see more stories involving Astra, particularly her journey to finding personal redemption. She started as a Big Bad, but it seems like she'll be part of the Waverider community. At the end of the fifth season, she chose to explore the human world.
In Legends of Tomorrow season 6, Astra will likely try to live a normal life on Earth and something bad may happen to her -- needing the help of the Legends. We could see more growth for this character and a chance to address the things she's been through involving her mother.
In a separate interview with TVLine, executive producer Phil Klemmer said Astra needs to figure out a lot of things that could be "super fascinating." He added that the character is a "totally amoral and cutthroat" and an awesome addition to the team of "big-hearted sweeties."
Legends of Tomorrow season 6 is slated to premiere at some point in 2021 on The CW.
