WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for The Blacklist season 8 episode 2. Read at your own risk.

The Blacklist season 8 episode 3 is not coming until next year on NBC. The series will go on a hiatus before delivering more interesting and intense stories. Despite the wait, fans can anticipate more twists and turns moving forward, especially after what transpired in episode 2.

The Blacklist season 8 episode 3 will pick up the massive and shocking cliffhanger in the second episode. Raymond "Red" Reddington pulled the trigger and killed Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins). However, Liz Keen (Megan Boone) witnessed what happened.

It remains to be seen whether or not Katarina is, indeed, dead. But since Liz saw what Red did to her mother, she is now more determined to take him down. The war between the two will further intensify, with Liz going on the dark path once again.

Red may have other reasons to kill Katarina, but there's no guarantee Liz will accept that. The latter feels broken because of what happened, and she becomes more eager to find out the truth -- particularly Red's true identity. Everything could play out in The Blacklist season 8 episode 3.

In a new interview with TVLine, executive producer John Eisendrath discussed what's waiting for Red and Liz following the events in episode 2. He teased that the two are going to war, as Katarina's death makes Liz more determined about getting answers to her questions for seven years.

Eisendrath added that Liz is willing to burn the bridge and cross the line to find out the truth. Her determination, along with the things she learned from Red about thinking like a criminal, will make her one of the "most formidable adversaries" of Red.

The Blacklist season 8 episode 3 will see Liz and Red coming head-to-head in an intense war. The two have been through a lot, which makes the situation even more complicated. There is no clear indication that their current situation will be repaired.

Based on the preview of the next episode, Liz made it clear that she's coming after Red. But then, her biggest struggle is that it won't be easy to defeat him, especially if she lacks proper resources. The full organization is backing him up, making it hard for her to take him down.

While Liz may have the help of the Task Force, she recently betrayed them. She will try to win them over, but this proved to be even more challenging since Red helps them put away bad guys. The Task Force values him, and this makes Liz's personal mission more difficult.

The Blacklist season 8 episode 3 is coming on Friday, January 22, on NBC.
