A Million Little Things season 3 premiered on ABC just recently, and it finally answered the biggest question in the season 2 finale: Eddie Saville's (David Giuntoli) fate. He survived the accident, but he may not be able to walk again because of what happened.

In the premiere of A Million Little Things season 3, it was revealed that Eddie is paralyzed as a result of the hit-and-run at the end of the second season. Now, he needs to rely on a wheelchair in order to get around, something that could have a huge impact on his life moving forward.

While some already expected that Eddie will survive, many were shocked by this unexpected twist. However, it seems like this is needed to drive the character's story further. This is a huge yet significant obstacle for him. This isn't necessarily the road to redemption, but the accident changes everything in his life.

In a recent interview with TVLine, showrunner/creator DJ Nash explained what Eddie's current situation means to his future. He noted that the series is built on the idea that "everything happens for a reason" and the challenge is "finding that reason."

Nash teased that Eddie will discover a lot of things through this injury. His plans were destroyed, including how he would be a husband, a good father, and a good friend. He has done many things in the past, but he wasn't really punished for his missteps.

Nash said that the accident isn't a punishment as a result of his past action, but viewers will see Eddie paying the price and overcoming something. His situation will lead him into thinking about the mistakes he's made before and how to make it right now that there's a possibility he may not walk again.

A lot of obstacles are coming for Eddie in A Million Little Things season 3, though it remains to be seen whether or not this is going to be permanent. Yet, Nash seemingly wants viewers to think that his current situation will play out through most of the new installment.

Meanwhile, the second episode is titled "Writing on the Wall." Eddie's wife and son, Katherine (Grace Park) and Theo (Tristan Byon), will try and learn to adapt to their new life following the accident. They have to adjust as their situation won't be the same as before anymore.

A Million Little Things season 3 is airing every Thursday on ABC.
