It has been more than a year since fans last saw Saitama on the small screen. Despite the lack of update and announcement, will viewers hear any news about One Punch Man Season 3 this year?

According to Devdiscourse, just like any other entertainment productions, the COVID-19 pandemic may have affected the development of One Punch Man Season 3. However, some believe there will also be a significant amount of time between Season 2 and Season 3's release.

To recall, the first season was out in 2015, and it took a good four years before the second season dropped. With that said, it might also take several years before the third season comes.

Although nothing much is known about the new season, there are strong assumptions the Heroes Association will take on their monster counterparts and invade its HQ.

This may result in a series of fights, featuring the S-Class heroes, like Zombieman, Atomic Samurai, and Flashy Flash. Of course, it will continue to delve into Saitama's life as he continuously defeats the enemies with just one punch.

However, his fight with Garou will be different. Compared to his other rivals, Saitama will find it hard to defeat Garou with just a single punch. There are also rumors that Garou may take the monster pills and be the worthy opponent against the caped superhero.

Aside from Garou, CBR noted another rival Saitama would face is the returning Speed-o-Sound Sonic. It is quite rare for an enemy to return in the show as the bald hero can effortlessly bring them down with just a single blow.

However, Sonic is different. He is not just a sneering villain. He occasionally contradicts the monster that threatens the city while maintaining his intent to take his revenge against Saitama after the latter humiliated him in Season 1. As he wants to regain his sense of honor, this rivalry will take a new height in One Punch Man Season 3.

Elsewhere, fans may also often not see Saitama in the new season, just like in Season 2, per Screenrant. Aside from the dropped in visual quality the second season experienced due to the studio's change, viewers felt they didn't see the Caped Baldy as prominent as in Season 1.

In Season 2, he was mostly in disguise, competing in a martial arts tournament. So, if the manga series will be based on, he may also be lesser seen in Season 3. While the one-on-one battle between the villains and heroes happens, Saitama will be wandering the HQ alone and will only fight the monster he will chance upon.
