Rick and Morty Season 5 is now in the works, and it looks like there will be some characters returning. Aside from the announcement that Beth will make a triumphant return, there is also a chance Snowball, the dog may make a comeback.
At the online Rick and Morty panel at Adult Swim Festival 2020, co-creator Dan Harmon revealed a major Season 4 character would return to Rick and Morty Season 5. In his speech, he said, via Devdiscourse, there are "pretty groovy things coming" regarding Beth.
As Space Beth is not only a "one-off character," fans are about to see her again. Viewers first saw Space Beth in the previous season's episode "Mort Rickturn of the Jerri."
According to Cinemablend, she managed to exist because the original Beth wanted a life more fulfilled without living her family. Rick then created a clone who had the same memories as the human Beth to do everything she wanted.
However, he later realized he couldn't afford to lose his daughter and let a clone took her place instead. To not feel what he felt, he shuffled the bodies and wiped his own memory so that he would have no idea who between the two Beths was the original.
Until now, nobody knows who the real Beth is. Anyhow, it is good to note that neither of the two Beths is technically the real one after Rick and Morty had ruined their own universe before joining the current one a couple of seasons ago.
So, Space Beth's return in Rick and Morty Season 5 may finally address this issue. Aside from Beth, there is also a slew of characters that can return to the animated series.
Season 4 finale ended Tammy and Bird Person's stories, but there are still a lot of unresolved arcs that can be explored in the upcoming season and beyond, per Inverse. Rob Paulsen, the voice behind the character of Snowball, the dog, said he is ready to bring back his character.
Knowing his role is one of the best-known characters in the show, he is hoping to return, and all it will take is just a phone call away from Harmon. With all the loose plot threads the series has, the most intriguing one is probably Snuffles' story.
The Smith family dog changed his name to Snowball after he became intelligent. He started a canine revolution and took his dog army to another dimension. As his storyline seemed to have an open ending, he always had a chance to make a comeback.
