Blue Bloods season 11 is officially arriving this week on CBS, with the premiere titled "Triumph Over Trauma." The police procedural has been on hiatus for quite some time as filming has been delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Now, the series is sharing updates on what's next to the characters.

Recently, CBS released a promo of Blue Bloods season 11 and it seemingly hyped up Maria Baez's (Marisa Ramirez) storyline. She, along with Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg), will go missing while trying to track down a particular killer.

Based on the clip, Baez is in danger, and there's a question of whether or not she could escape her current situation. Perhaps, Danny is coming to help her, and then they'll be able to catch the person they're looking for. Yet, whatever is coming here, the promo signals Ramirez's character's life is in jeopardy.

Meanwhile, Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) is facing his own problem, as well. He needs to figure out how to handle the latest unrest in New York -- especially the relationship between people spiraling out of control and the police. The premiere will, particularly, tackle police brutality.

Frank goes head-to-head with Regina Thomas (Whoopi Goldberg) over a protest against this matter, with the latter telling him to get his cops in the line. What makes the situation even more complicated is that the DA's office gets involved, leaving everyone in a rather tight spot.

People have different opinions when it comes to the police and their role in society. While Frank has dealt with such issues in the past, the story in Blue Bloods season 11 is said to be different from the previous installments. CarterMatt noted that this would be the "most topical premiere" in the series' history.

As for what else is coming, Jamie Reagan and his nephew Joe Hill (Will Hochman) will be working together to locate Danny and Baez's whereabouts after the two went missing. Eddie Janko-Reagan helps an abrasive woman searching for her father's body after being misplaced at the outset of the pandemic.

Aside from telling stories within the policing world, Blue Bloods season 11 will see the characters working amidst the pandemic. The latest installment would be different this time around, as there have been restrictions in terms of filming.

For instance, although family dinner scenes will still be incorporated, it will be presented differently. There won't be too much action scene, as well. The cast and crew have to follow certain health guidelines to ensure their safety and avoid another filming setback.

Blue Bloods season 11 premieres on Friday, Dec. 4, on CBS.
