Kadokawa's Comic Newtype webcomic, Her Blue Sky, will soon come to a close. The recent release of Chapter 14 seems to hint the Akane Aoi's story will end in Chapter 15.
The series' official Twitter page announced the end of Her Blue Sky in Episode 15. In the post translated by Epic Dope, it asked a question if Aoi and Shin could save Akane.
Mangaka Yaeko Ninagawa, who worked behind Ghost Slayers Ayashi, will be drawing the series' final chapter after working on its previous installments. The series is originally an anime film adapted into a manga.
So, the manga's ending is said to similar to what happened in the movie. Here, Shinnosuke promised Akane he would never give up on her.
The recently-released Chapter 14 highlighted many events, but the much-awaited exchange between Shinno and Akane. It also showed Shinno, who was from the past, faced Shinnosuke from the future and ran away to the forest with Aoi. The two fell from the sky -- a scene that was quite similar in Weathering with You.
On the other hand, its movie version was set in a town nestled in the mountains, Anime News Network noted. It centered on the story of the second-year high school student Aoi, an aspiring musician.
It also featured her older sister, Akane Aioi, her ex-boyfriend, the struggling guitarist Shinnosuke Kanomura, and Shino, who happened to be from 13 years ago. The latter traveled from the past to the present to be with his lady love.
Aoi and Akane's parents died in an accident at the same time when Shino came from. So, Akane gave up her dreams to go to Tokyo to be with her then-boyfriend to look after Aoi.
This made Aoi indebted to her sister. The famous "enka" singer, Dankichi, invited Aoi to perform as a session musician at a music festival when Shinnosuke returned to the town after being away for a long time. Shinno also arrived then that made Aoi fell in love for the first time.
Tatsuyuki Nagai, Mari Okada, and Masayoshi Tanaka handled the movie as director, writer, and artist, respectively. Tanaka also worked on the original character designs and served as the chief animation director.
CloverWorks was in charge of the animation production, while Hiroyuki Shimizi and Genki Kawamura produced the film. In addition, Ken Matsudaira performed the movie's insert song, and Aimyon sang the theme song, Sora no Aosa o Shiru Hito yo.
Her Blue Sky's final chapter is set to be out on Friday, January 29.
