Arsenal suffered another defeat in the Premier League and the side is pushed further down the table. The club only managed one victory in the last six games in the competition and the continuing slide highlighted two things - the team is wanting in creativity and marksman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continues to struggle.

The Gabon striker did impress with 22 goals in England last season and his performance won him a new contract that pays £300,000 per week. Yet in the ongoing campaign, Aubameyang has found the net only twice and the drought in scoring is taking a toll on Mikel Arteta's side.

According to Sky Sports, the 31-year-old star appeared isolated in the games that turned out as disappointing for the Gunners, and the club's lack of creativity is to be blamed.

The Gunners seemed to be finding it increasingly difficult to bring the ball through the middle and it was apparent with the 2-1 loss versus Wolves. There was no spark in the gameplay and the frustration was reflected by Aubameyang's inability to score like he used to.

To his credit, Arteta made the adjustment of moving his main man to a more central role but the Gabon forward still found it difficult to make the same impact he achieved last season.

The star said he is playing in a position he does not prefer. Arsenal started the campaign with Aubameyang playing on the left flank and he struggled to make the scoresheet in the last eight matches. The same result was seen when the Gabon forward was moved back to the center.

Aubameyang claimed his lack of scoring has something to do with his playing position. He explained that as a striker, he favors moving around the middle area but made clear Arteta's tactic is not a problem.

"Everyone knows where I prefer to play but this doesn't matter because I prefer to have many options than just one," the Arsenal captain said, and per the report by Metro.

He insisted that he is happy of learning new things from the Arsenal coach and will gladly help in the manner that Arteta sees fit. Aubameyang conceded that playing on the wing will allow him to connect better with his midfield teammates on the pitch.

Aubameyang found an ally on former Arsenal star Ian Wright, who suggested that Arsenal's underlying problems stemmed from the current composition of the roster. The club hero said Arteta has yet to achieve his hiring targets and chief to blame is the side's inability to finance big signings.

As a result, the Gunners' plan of bringing talents to support Aubameyang has yet to materialize and Wright said this contributed to the forward's scoring issues and that of the club as well.
