Mike Tyson is understandably at a different level right now and it is not because of weed. He impressed a lot of people when he faced Roy Jones Jr. recently, most feeling that he should have been declared the winner.
Regardless, the key thing to note here is that it was purely an exhibition fight and it did not matter who won (or lost). For the former boxing champion, putting on a good show and doing it for charity is what makes it bigger than aiming for a world title.
A rematch with Jones is possible but Tyson may be better off facing another opponent. The first name that comes to mind is Evander Holyfield, someone who was originally preferred before Jones was named as Tyson’s opponent.

The two fighters reportedly explored talks but nothing prospered. The camps of Tyson and Holyfield failed to come to terms and Iron Mike feels that is the problem. Business associates had some other agenda in his opinion. Hence, the best way to make a Tyson vs. Holyfield III happen is if both fighters sit down and talk about it – without anyone else, Boxingscene reported.
“Maybe Evander needs to talk to me because every time my business associates talk to his business associates, it doesn’t turn out well,” Tyson said.
He also questioned the intent of the people behind Holyfield. He feels that if the camp of “The Real Deal” may be making all the wrong decisions.
“So I don’t know. If you could see what we made tonight, if these guys really care about the welfare of Evander, they would have had this fight with Evander. Maybe we’ll do another but, whoever’s he’s with who’s handling him is totally wrong,” Tyson said.
It remains to be seen if Tyson and Holyfield can discuss a potential fight. Since their rivalry, both have moved past that and have been talking. But if Tyson’s performance is any indication, Holyfield may want to take a second look.
There were a lot of people who were left impressed with his performance. That includes UFC President Dana White who felt Tyson should have won over Jones, USA Today reported.
“Tyson won the fight. He looked good. He’s a grown --s man and he’s going to do what he wants anyway, but good for him. It was actually a good fight. It was an entertaining fight to watch and I thought he looked really good. I’m happy for him,” White said after the fight.
