Prince William was staying and listening in the background when his wife, Kate Middleton, had her very first podcast interview. This happened in February for the series hosted by Giovanna Fletcher of the Happy Mum, Happy Baby fame.
Fletcher detailed that Prince William was like the one-man communications team for his wife and told the Duchess of Cambridge to just speak candidly during the podcast. The Duke of Cambridge encouraged Kate not to worry about what she has to say. He assured her that they could always edit out stuff if Kate felt that she said or exposed too much about their private lives.
Kate did talk without worrying about giving away too much information. Fletcher said that the royal's interview for Happy Mum, Happy Baby was supposed to last 45 minutes, but they ended up talking for an hour and a half about motherhood and parenting.
Fletcher said that Kate had hot tea at the start of the podcast interview. By the end of the program, her cup was cold because they had a great time talking to each other.
Meanwhile, the podcast host is currently a contestant on the reality TV show I'm a Celebrity. Fletcher is still inside Gwrych Castle in North Wales, where the rest of the contestants remain sequestered to compete for the top prize.
Fletcher admitted to her fellow contestants that it's not hard to have a "girl crush" on Kate. She described the future Queen Consort of England as "divine" and "absolutely elegant" who also has self-depreciating humor about herself.
In her conversation with Fletcher, Kate revealed that she experiences mom guilt as she juggles her work and parenting. Though the Cambridges have the help of the nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, they still try to be hands-on parents to Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2.
Kate told Fletcher that just before she arrived to do the podcast, her two older children asked why they couldn't do the school run that morning, which filled her with guilt. Prince William's wife said that there is always something that will challenge every mother, especially if they want to provide the best for their kids. Any mother feels otherwise is not being true to her feelings.
Fletcher revealed that her podcast with Kate is definitely one of her career highlights. The Duchess of Cambridge also used this appearance to kickstart her initiative, the 5 Big Questions on the Under Fives survey. Prince William's wife recently unveiled the survey's results to the public.
